About the Presenter(s): Heather Duquaine and Jody Cattoor
Heather has over 15 years of experience in criminal justice program management and client relations. As a Account Manager for SCRAM Systems, she works directly with service providers, county agencies, and statewide programs to implement and support best-in-class electronic monitoring solutions. Heather’s expertise includes, customer training, and operational support—helping agencies achieve efficiency and compliance through technology.
Jody oversees SCRAM Systems’ Midwest region, partnering with agencies across Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Minnesota. With a background in business development and public safety technology, Jody focuses on helping courts, probation departments, and treatment programs modernize their supervision tools through SCRAM’s suite of products
Workshop
Objective:
Audiences should have a comprehensive understanding of best practices when working alongside victim/survivors of Sex Trafficking, Sexual Exploitation, and prostituted persons. This training will provide considerations in resources management, housing, advocacy, and outreach.
Workshop Description:
Beyond arrest: Developing trust, rapport, and a rich resource network with victims of sex trafficking while supervising on parole / probation.
This training will re-cap Sex Trafficking 101 and bring impactful solutions to communications with persons on probation or parole who have been trafficked, sexually exploited, or prostituted. Additionally, this training will show scenarios that impactfully use community-based advocacy to meet the needs of the client while supporting the terms of probation / parole. Lastly, this training will be used as a skill-building workshop to enhance the ability to start meaningful conversations with persons involved in the “life” to gain an understanding of circumstances, build trusting relationships, and assist clients in gaining access to needed resources.
Presented by: Dr. Lori Quist
Dr. Lori Quist has a Ph.D. from Liberty University in Social and Criminal Justice. She has completed her Master of Arts degree from Hazelden Graduate School in Addiction Studies and her undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University in Police Science, she also holds a green belt in strategic planning. Dr. Quist has a diverse background in positions that have supported clients of addiction, incarcerated men and women, victims/survivors of Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Assault and Sex Trafficking. Dr. Quist is the Chief Executive Officer at Breaking Free, St. Paul which works to end sexual exploitation in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Lori spends her free time with her family in Northeast Minnesota, she enjoys traveling, photography, and Minnesota sports.
